Default Sunset at West Coast

Hi all, this is my first post for new cam 450D.

Tried to capture rays of the sun casting over West Coast. Pls C&C and tell me how it can be improved.

I think it looks underexposed? I cant make out anything except for the orange sunset. I understand that you wanted to place emphasis on the sunset, but I feel a tad more light for your foreground would be nicer..

Exposure is o.k. now, add more contrast will be nice.

To make a good sunset picture, we need some composition, some interesting object(s) in the foreground will be good.

Shoot more.

Cheers.

It's definitely alot better. As with SilverPine's suggestions, I'm sure it'll be even better..

I prefer the underexposed photo... it is more dramatic... it is all about art...

if you have a telephoto lens you can try shooting silhouette of the a few factories roofs and chimneys in the orange sky.. would give a dramatic contrast to this pic..

i like the sombre mood of #1 more.. but the buildings are not showing up enough.. as in they are not obvious enough..
