Smile Night at the Esplanade

My first night photography at the Esplanade. Unfortunately, SG Flyer not lighted-up.

No 1 is very tight coz I need to avoid several heads seating at the steps just behind the stage. I'm unable to move further up towards the NDP stage as there is a 50m pontoon cut across the Singapore River.

Kindly give your comments. Thanks.

These are very nice, much better than any similar shots which have been posted. You have a good eye for subject and for composition.

Click on the image in Flickr, then click the "all sizes" button above the image.
Then you copy the url thats displayed below the image.
(you have to login to your account to see it, or just right-click image and "copy image location")

Your first pic, you made the same mistake I did on that shot.
It's slanting to the right. Other than that, it's quite nice

Camera: EOS 450D

Aperture: F8
Shutter: 8 secs
ISO: 100
White Balance: AWB

Added 2 more photos

For no 4, it was taken around 10pm. The traffic was quite heavy. Need to wait for the right moment to get this shot.

Both pictures below were taken with more or less the same settings as the first two pictures posted earlier. Any comment would be most welcome. Thanks.

Your shots can be better improved in terms of composition and angle of shoot. It's a bit pity that you could have make use of the high tide and make the most reflection out of it but you didn't. Those pictures have been shot by a lot of people. On the second picture, you could have walk a bit closer to the esplanade i.e. towards Suntec and get a better angle. You could have also captured Ritz as well but you have chosen in this case to cropped away Ritz leaving it not complete. Leaving the water ripple which potentially will impact the reflection is a good thing you have done for the second picture but not the 3rd picture. You could have patiently waited for the ripple to settled before taking it. This will produce even better results.

What's nice I feel is that all your pictures are well exposed. Good work on this one. I comment this because I have taken the same pictures many many times and leaving only the best in my website.

Sorry to say that everything is not right to begin with...WB, composition, exposure, sharpness and contrast.

One more comment effex, picture 4 is the best to what I feel but it lacks something interesting. You could have the light trails captured better maybe include more reds at the "right moment" to make the whole picture more interesting. This you will have to experiment it on your own. I have one example here which is what I meant --> http://photosmoment.com/p369671759/hd02b90a#hd02b90a

Hope all my comments helps. If this is your first time taking night photos, then I would say you have great potential for night photography. BTW I am not expert....I am still learning as well from other great masters.
