Default Chinatown

Hello, like to share some pictures taken during a walkabout in Chinatown 2 weeks back. The streets were packed with people getting new year stuff for the festive celebrations.

I'm using a panasonic pns. I don't think the built in flash has FEC. Anyway i post processed the photos. Perhaps I overdid some.

I take back my words, I am able to adjust the amount of flash light from the inbuilt flash. However my camera does not adjust accordingly to compensate the flash. I suppose I have to shoot more to know how much flash I need. Thanks

after awhile you will know your flash strength n how come compensation u need to adjust accordingly.

For night shots, you can try to shoot in higher ISO to capture the mood, than having the whole scene light up. Especially 2D feel.

The second picture's yellows look a tad washed out. However it looks rather interesting at the same time, in an 'old picture' sort of way. Maybe u can add some noise to the image using photoshop to recreate something of that sort?

I like the one with the array of sweets. Colourful!

Can't really comment about the pictures and their framing and stuff as I'm pretty poor at this sort of street shooting. But I do think the PP'ing done on some of the photos look rather off... Ever checked if your monitor display settings are off ? Or are you trying to convey a certain style ? If so, perhaps you should keep all the pictures consistent.

Personal preference for me is to keep the colours in a picture as 'natural' as they can be while looking vibrant... though some have other preferences. And some of the picts have too much 'dark' areas. I think they would look better if you lifted the levels in the dark areas a little bit to reveal more in the pictures while not detracting away from the main subject matter ?

Probably try to take some this evening to see if I can catch anything nice there... But I think the hordes will be out in full force... and it'll be tough!!
