Default Battery for Camera

Hi everyone,

Is it a common practice, not to put batteries inside camera when we store the camera / not using the camera?
I haven't read about this before in Canon user guide (perhaps I miss out)

Thanks

It will prevent battery leaks from damaging your camera. However, if you are going to use the camera from time to time, I don't think having the battery inside the camera is a problem. You should take it out if you plan to store the camera for a long period...

I always have 2 batteries in my battery grip just in case I need to grab the camera and shoot something or go out.

Is better to Take out battery when you need to store it, it can prevent leakage of the battery and shorten the battery usage time when you using because the camera may draw current from your battery (even u had shutdown).

Yup. May be a bit cumbersome at first but you'll quickly get used to this good habit.

Hi everyone, just to add in that when I asked this, I haven't own any SLR. For user guide of SLR, it already include that it is not advisable to put battery in camera when we store it.

I always took out the battery and even the memory card before storing it away.

Also, I always place them nearby so that I can grab and load them immediately when I need it instantly.
