hi hi! I went to Alexandra Hospital Butterfly Trail over the weekend.....indeed there are many ants and mosquitoes! After a few bites and some desperate attempts to chase the butterflies, I only managed to snap a couple of shots...somehow they are not crystal clear like those I saw at this forum...is it becos of the macro set-up?

Not bad for a newbie. Maybe you can let us know your settings so that we can advise accordingly.

hmm...settings ah? me used P mode and the macro function...looking at the exif, it says exposure time was 1/200sec and aperture was f4.8. i was standing quite far from the fleeting beauties tho (cos they flew off when they felt my presence)....was that why the pics were not super clear?

Not bad for a first try. Much better than what I had during my first time there. I am not sure abt A70. Are u able to switch the AV priority? If so, try playing around with the aperture setting. You have achieved quite a gd background for your shots. Keep up the gd work. If u want to improve faster, grab one of the macro specialists here to go with u.

I like the cycad blue shot. When shooting insects, try to shoot them at 'eye-level' or lower angle parallel to their body/wings. This will make them looks bigger.
