46mm filter is compatible for FZ28... but u can also use other filter size if u get a step up ring or adapter for it.

wat to put on the lens would be a UV filter 46mm. This is one that will always be on the lens no matter if its ON or OFF.

Hi Fzers, I hope you are feeling like exercising your shutter fingers and doing some walking.
I'm sure Skyguy will be able to come up with another memorable hike. Are we there yet?!?!?
Amy and I arrive on June 20 quite late and will be there for three weeks. Melvan is keen to do the tree top walk, Amy wants to do that also, she has been in training.
It will be good to catch up with Ombre, Vinze, Ricsal, Andrew, Stacey, Anson and of course Melvan and any others in the FZ clan.

    Hi Guys,

I have more or less decided to keep a lookout for a 2nd hand FZ18 for my first foray into Prosumer Cameras. I saw an offer that is selling a FZ18 with standard accessories with 8GB card, extra battery and still 2 more years of warranty from Harvey Norman. He is selling at $390.

Do you all think it is a good deal assuming that the camera is still in reasonable condition?

newbie here so would appreciate all advices.

Since getting the FZ28, I've been having tremendous fun with it in HK, and experimenting with various basic techniques.

My most memorable photography trip was down at a public zoo that left me with a leg-ful of mosiquitoe bites. It has been a week, and I'm still suffering from the itches, and tons of fuzzy images; because I attempted to swap the bloodsuckers, while trying to keep the camera still for a shot, and praying that the darn monkeys kept still too.

Thanks to the contributors here for such a great recommendation of a camera.

Unfortunately, I've caught the BBB bug. The Swine Flu Pendamic was the least of my worries. It all started with the reverberation of "Teleconverter, Teleconverter, Teleconverter" in my sub-consciousness. And the great "Tcon" project started. I must say, it was enjoyable sourcing, and piecing all the parts together. I've got the Tcon-17 yesterday at a good price, and I am truly a happy-camper.

I've a question for the FZers in this thread using the Tcon-17. The Tcon-17 does not have threadings at the front end, which bars any form of attachments like a lens hood. If I wanted the option of attaching a lens hood, what would be a good way?

I've read various forums, which suggested:

    a) plugging in a 77mm-82mm step-up ring.
    b) plugging in a double threaded 77mm cheap filter, with lens removed.
    c) getting a collapsible 77mm rubber hood, and remove the attachment end of the hood.
Hence, rubber hood could be slipped over the tcon from the converter's narrower end.

I reckon c) is least painful, and hoods are pretty cheap here in HK. If I muck it up, it'll only costs me a couple of bucks.

Anyone with some advice on how to accomplish this?

Oh no no, this guy bought from Harvey Norman and bought the extended warranty from them I believe then, so now he is selling off the camera so the extended warranty still left around 2 years...

    Oh ok, interpreted wrongly

One thing I like about Harvey Norman extended warranty is they provide 1-to-1 exchange if your product is faulty.

Have to DIY i guess, ombre have DIY one before... but of coz if the 77mm rubber hood is easily available, i think can just go ahead with it
Anyway how much is HK selling the Tcon17?

Build one. I did it before.

I made it out of cardboard paper and a layer of black foam/sponge. Art materials. And I made it 15cm long, it was a REALLY long hood.. haha... let me see if I can still find the photo somewhere...

Ta.... man, you're making me miss my long lens days.

Anyways, the foam part will sort of give it a snug fit. so it doesn't really move at all.

    Currently searching for a 400mm lens ...

    N.O.

I believe the Fz18 can be bought for less than $350 now firsthand. Just find the right shop, try online, like Adorama and stuff, and ship it in.

By the way, I bought my FZ18 brand new last june at 400SGD flat.
