Interesting topic especially on the microwave.
I remember this topic 8 years back when i was doing a thesis and lab for microwave prepackaging on removing bacteria / breaking down of molecular structure correlation to it . Several patents have been filed for this technologies. There are several published journals on the subject matters and you guys may want to do a search for it. The answer is not as *clear cut* as some of you may like to think.
There are "radiation" everywhere - we breathe and bath in them even ... they are much less likely to result in death under normal circumstances compare to other activities we indulge onto.

Do yourself a favor and try to learn and understand. Otherwise, you might by some miracle pass your exams and end up as one of those degree holders that wonder why they never get offered a job in R&D after being interviewed.
So what's the effect of microwave on the bacteria on your thesis?
for those "everywhere radiation" our body should be able to cope loh... living cells have some sort of error check and recovery or "delete" process... but increased man-made radiation.. prolonged exposure... I think no one can say for certain that there is no compound effect loh...
But as it is, I dun think current commercial devices are any cause of concern.
I wouldn't worry about that.
Because i qoute you because you were so into lecturing me how a microwave works when we're talking about the concept of wavelength.
Technology and science is a TOTALLY different thing by nature.

h is your plank constant which is a value that never change.
To find out the energy which your wavelength produce,sub the frequency of that wavelength and multiply with your h.There you get your energy.
Compare the difference between each EMW and tell me the differnce.
No,why not i repeat again.
You will see a co-relation between energy and wavlegth since difference wavelength has different frequencies.

can you then explain how does the quoted formula translate to energy in WATTS? (since we are also tokking about manmade devices.. say a 10KW transmission)
and also how does the these EMW translates to the difference between Ionising/non-ionising properties. and at the same time explain how does Ultra-Violet comes into play here.
Microwave or more commonly UV are use to kill bateria on food.Instead of the traditional cleaning and then freezing,MW or UV completely kill the bateria or 99% of it and then freeze.
Food are kept for prolonged period.
They have error check but note that even DNA coding make error at times too on their OWN.
harmless bg radiation are harmless per say but they are still radiation and the reason why i put it as an example is to let ppl know that there is radiation everywhere because it seems to many that radiaiton is a very BIG word.
There should be a formula that translate eV[electron volt] into wavelength.Once you have the wavelength,you can measure it against the spectrum chart to obtain the type of EMW.
However,this is usually done by the computer which has a datalogger to quantify such value.
Ionizing properties are usually reserve for UV/x-ray and gamma.
Ionizing properties means they are energetic enough to knock off an electron from atom,molecules.
Let's see,for something to react,it has to be reactive,meaning it has a free valence[empty slot] to bind with another molecule.
This is why inert gases are very stable since they have a full complete shell of electron.
When ionizing particles knock off electron[s] from atom or molecules,they leave it open to reaction,to bind with other molecule or atom.
This is why ionizing particle are very DANGEROUS.
Take another example.
You have 2 girls.Each holding your hand.
Your 2 hands will be full.
You can not hold another girl's hand.
Another guy,a wrecker will act as a ionizing particle.
He knock out a girl from your hand.
Now you have 1 empty hand and is free to hold another girl hand,another different girl hand.
Anything from microwave to visible light does not have enough energy to knock out electrons due to their long wavelength which means lower energy due to lower frequencies.
Say h is a constant 2.
take fre for microwave at 5 hz.
Total energy = 10
Now let's take Gamma ray.
h will be a constant 2[never changing]
Frequency let's take 20 since it has a higher frequency compared to microwave.
Total energy= 2x20=40

They knock out electrons from the build up of your body and allows it to react and bind with other atom or compoud.Hence you have abnormal cells.
This occur at more than cellular level.At the DNA blueprint.
Example of your ionizing particle are alpha particle/beta particle and neutrons.
Ionizing particles are not EMW.
They are merely what EMW uch as UV/x-ray and gamma rays or radioactive substance like uranium will emit.
