I just found out that it shows the error when the shutter speed is below 1/80.

I tried using a blower and microfibre cloth to clean the contacts but it still keeps happening. Btw I just tried and the shutter speed now cannot go below 1/20. Its weird as it keeps changing. Im worried when i bring to csc then suddenly starts working again.

err 01 is usually associated with mount problems, typically something to do with IS
do you have a non-IS lens to try with? see if it still happens better to narrow down the possible cause of the problem if you can, before sending it in

my 80-200/2.8L tends to invite error 01. It was very apparent when i was in japan, where error 01 showed up almost everytime i tried, and another thing was that looking through the viewfinder, it was very dark.
there was a thread on error 01 and a fellow CSer mentioned about going into liveview for the aperture blades to realign or something like that. It worked initially but thereafter it got darker and darker then error 01. coming back to singapore, i wanted to send for servicing but after mounting, everything was back to normal. So i might just send it in for servicing rather guess when it's going to error 01 again. i think sending yours in would be the better option, rather than guess-working. it can get very irritating. ![]()

Im facing it the same way as you do and it really gets on my nerve when i dont want to miss that shot and the error pops up. I guess I'll have to make my way to harbourfront centre and send it in for servicing. Thanks everyone for the help!
