hi pokka,
im surprise this work of yours did not get much replies. Maybe the filesize to small? So..i'll not go into detailed aspects. Compostion wise, i think its pretty gd. But personally, i don't really like black backgrounds for macros, make them like shot in the dark. Did you use a external flashgun? Maybe reduce the intensity and get more ambient light? A brownish hopper would look pretty nice with a light green background. Overall, pretty nice! ![]() Got a new cam already? |

The grasshopper looks clear..
![]() anyway, i'm kinda on the same note with wryer. I like the composition. Makes it look clean, easier to "focus". But also, i do not have a knack for black backgrounds. To me, it seems like they were shot in a studio or "pre-made" scene.. Well, not to say that that is not good ar.. Haa.. But if something "planty" for the background would prolly appeal to me.. Yeah.. heh.. just my 2 cents.. =x |

yeah, i used an external flash for this shot. if i remember correctly, the place where i took this shot is covered by huge trees with large canopy. so the place is kinda dark. the settings are 1/250 f9-11?. maybe tat explains for the almost black background. im still not very competent when it comes to using the metz32z1. even after reading the manual, im still not sure. any experts ard can give a brief explaination on how to use it effectively with the 602z? yup wyrer, just got the 602 not too long ago. hopefully i can get some good shots to compliment the camera.

nice one
![]() did u use any diffuser/ softener / omni-bounce on the flash ? usually the flash will lighten up the background if there is leafs or any green stuffs . I think speed like 1/250sec is kind of too fast for stationary object ... try speed like 1/160sec or slower |

thanks.
I just fired the flash direct without any diffuser or sorts. heh, the reason i put 1/250 is because i dun have stable hands. for macro, i find tat my standing or squatting posture are not very stable as sometimes the angle and the way u compose ur shots will make u in a way 'unbalance'. thus, in order to compensate for the camera shake, i up the shutter. sometimes when i see ur shots megaweb, really amazes me. anyway, will try with diffuser on next time. ![]()
