Default Want to Recover Lost Lens

Hi guys,

there used to be a thread for lost equipments but it's nowhere to be found. So I'm not sure if this belongs here.

My students recently lost 3 lens @ R.I. (16th Jan 2008) while shooting the Jim Weir Cup between St Andrew's & Raffles. It was inside a black lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW.

The lens belongs to the school and a police report will be made. Kindly keep an eye out for the following lens. If you are holding on to the lens, I will close the case if you return the lens to the school.

The details of the lens are:

EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 s/no: 4231153725
EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM s/no: 39131975
EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM s/no: 40805279

If you come across these lens or have any info leading to them, kindly call me @ 91738598.

Greatly appreciate it.

Cheers
YC

Good luck with the search.

I wonder if RI students stole the items? And you said you will close the case if the thief "return to the school"? If you teach English at RI I fear for this country's young minds.

It's your type of mind that most of us fear! You're not helping.

Meepokman, good luck.

Well, it's hard to trace them but don't give up. Hope that you can find them soon.

Just be more careful the next time.

Take it as a learning lesson and move on.

Take care. All the best.

Hope you find the lost items soon. However, the chances are low.

Luckily, there 3 lenses dont cost that much. You should remind your student/s that shooting event involves crowds and all his belongings should be with him all the time or handled by a trusted assistant. Usually the photographer should bring only the lenses that he need not all of them. The 1st 2 lenses are almost of the same range so why duplicate?

Good luck.

Those students should be responsible for the lost.

Hi

Really sorry to hear of such incidents happening, especially in a school. Although the chances of finding it will be slim, don't give up so easily, Singapore is not as big as you think and if enough CSers read this, it will be hard for the thief to hock it off.

This would be a lesson for all of us.

Good Luck bro.

Hi

Obviously the TS is stressed and upset about the incident, give him/her a break la. Put yourself in his/her shoes and maybe you will know how it feels.

Peace

You are not helping the situation. Would you please be more considerate? We don't need forumers to come into a thread, rant about bad English, and follow up by being totally guai lan.

hehe I don't usually pick on peoples spelling and I do realize that there is such a thing as "Singlish" (which is a bad idea if you ask me but who am I to judge). Being an "alien/others" I can still usually (after some "getting used to") grasp what's being said and/or written but this pretty much left me clueless. My best guess would be that he'll now go look for this guy named Len and try to borrow something from him so he can put his foot inside to see how it fits. Now that didn't sound quite "on topic" to me.

Translation anyone?

Singlish is not a bad thing , languages evolve and change , you should have seen english back in the 18th century.

singlish is a bad thing when all our children know is singlish and do badly at their PSLE/GCEs.

it's fine if you're speaking it colloquially and know how to codeswitch, but many students "nowSadayS" can't.

Yeah, back then people talked like Yoda, from Starwars. It's alright to speak in a simple manner, because it's easy to understand. When it comes to exams or test, just write proper English. Make yourself disciplined and it would be alright. There's no right or wrong to how we should speak. Speak in any manner, that you feel is the best to convey your message.

How ever, the TS, needs some encouragement and hope in finding his items. Not having a mark test on his standard of English. Being lame doesn't help either. Have a little heart, give some encouragement.

I think the school have a record of their lenses. I have also kept a record of all my lenses, TC, batteries, charger etc..

For those with serial numbers, I will keep the serial numbers, those without, I just record the model and quantity. It helps if you travel with a group and share lenses, charger etc. FYI. my lens cap and body cap also have sticker with my name and hp number.
