    the little bit important update:

Mum and baby doing well. Doc says all systems go for Monday!

    The Very Important Update:

I showed Doc the 450D, ask him can bring in or not?
Doc says can bring in the DSLR! and also shoot flash if i want.
He also says the OR will be bright. probably dont need flash.
And he also say bump up the ISO no prob. Ha. Wonder if he is CSer?
I know I'm a lousy photographer. I just enjoy the PROCESS of taking a picture. EOS 450D

Cool... just use the 50mm and you should be ok... just as long as you don't faint...

After reading the thread title, I thought you meant the baby was delivered with a DSLR!

My wife had C-section at Mt. Alvernia. I wasn't even allowed in there with her, let alone a camera!

Since lighting is not a problem in the OT, I'd think a zoom would be more useful, as you can't be moving around to compose your picture, might knock down things. 50mm could be too long for some of the shots.

You kit lens should be able to get good pictures.

Given the 2 choice, I would choose the kit lens...

OT abit, for chinese traditional brief... it may not be good for the lens to "见红"...

OK. Thanks. Looks like the Kit lens gets to play. The 50mm sits on the bench.
Oh, pardon my spelling sometimes. If you see badly mis-spelled words, means I'm trying to update using the phone.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Congratulations on the baby, and being able to bring a camera in. I have no advice on how to take photos of a Caesarian, just one general one - don't forget about your wife when you're in there. She's probably nervous and scared about the whole thing so remember you're there for moral support as well as to witness and be part of an important event. Best of luck to everyone and take care!

BTW there are lens rental services available (there are some sticky threads around).

    Congrats!
My wife had a natural delivery in Gleneagles too. Her Gynae does not allow us to take any photos/video during the delivery. Can only take before, of after the delivery. ie. once the gynae leave.

Anyway, my wife kena some side effects of the epidural and vommit non stop during the delivery. Where got time to take pictures? I need to tend to her. Just bring a PnS that can take video, that would be a better choice.

Do participate in her delivery, and not only observe as a photographer. I'm glad that I didn't just snap, snap, and snap. Else my wife would have killed me. I really enjoyed being there, and was thoroughly moved when the baby is out.

Be there and seize the moment.

But yeah, check with the doctor and the hospital.

Bumping up post counts? TS is seeking parents who have experiences with bringing DSLR to OT, yet half of them tell him to check with doc.

    Update

    the important stuff
    weight 3.225 kg
    Time 1240 pm

Mum and baby doing well. All smooth.

Thanks again for all the well wishes.

    Photo stuff

Glad i took in the SLR. Pics nice to my eye. The Anastatist (sp??) steady, help us take a parents and baby pic.
It seems Gleneagles did have a policy of no pics in the OR. But now allow. Movie not allowed.

Also the choice of the kit lens 18-55mm adequate for the job. Sorry I wont post pics. Private moments, you will understand. Also they are quite ordinary snap shots, no cool angles or lighting or anything like that.

    Cheers folks!

Congratulations to you and your wife for being proud parents now!

The pictures will become priceless memories. I'm keeping a montage of my kid's birth, and growing up process. Will present to him when he grows up or turn 21.
