Default Best Rechargable battery for flash.

hi, any tips?

what's the best rechargable battery for flash?

I'm thinking of AA rechargable lithium ion batteries, does this beast exist?

and what are some of the faster/intelligent/independent channel chargers in the singapore market (ie: where can I get them?)

thanks

check with Eastgear or his website www.eastgear.com

There're no commercial Li Ion rechargeable AA yet. You could consider the Sanyo 2100mAH, which are cheap and good.

yup, at $3 a pop, Sanyo 2100mAh are hard to beat in terms of cost-effectiveness.

1000 is a somewhat generous claim, by then the batt capacity would most prob be nowhere near it's rating. anyhow 500 cycles is more than enough, cos probably in a year or year and a half's time, you may be wanting to junk the 2100mAh for 2500 or 2800mAh ones.

reading eastgear, the best one seem to be just that.

sanyo batteries and

Maha MH-C401FS 100 Minute Cool Charger

but the best cheaper option might be a sony quick charger..
---

but the best seems to be: (is it available in singapore?)

http://ir.thomsonfn.com/InvestorRela...&storyId=80093

· New rechargeable system allows for battery charging in 15 minutes or less and up to 1,000 times
· Recharged batteries last up to up four times longer than alkaline in certain devices
· No other battery recharging system is faster

MADISON, Wis. – Rayovac, the number one selling rechargeable brand in the U.S., has announced that I-C3, the revolutionary new rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery and charging system will be available to consumers in the U.S. by October 2003. The new I-C3 rechargeable battery system is the only one of its kind to offer a charging time of an unprecedented 15 minutes or less, producing battery power so strong that it will last up to four times longer than an alkaline battery in a digital camera.

Rayovac’s patent-pending I-C3 technologyŌ (In-Cell Charge Control) puts the control of recharging into the battery, instead of the charger. This breakthrough in NiMH technology offers significant performance and convenience advantages over existing rechargeable and disposable battery systems.

The new Rayovac 15-minute NiMH Rechargeable System will feature new batteries and two new chargers. The Rayovac 15-Minute Rechargeable batteries will be available in AA and AAA sizes. Battery two-packs will be priced under $10, and four-packs under $15. The two-position and four-position chargers will charge AA or AAA Rayovac I-C3 NiMH batteries in as little as 15 minutes and up to 1,000 times.

honestly speaking the best batteries to use for flash are NiCD batteries. The reason is that they have a faster discharge rate which will enable your flash to recharge faster.

of course the down side is the limited capacity 1000mAh and the memory effect which comes with the technology and not to mention the hazard the material cadium casuses.

There exist 1100mAh NiCd AA, but they are very hard to come by.
1000mAh are easier to find, but not exactly very common either.

Memory effect is not an issue for typical usage of NiCd in camera flash.
They are a problem only if the battery is slightly discharge and then
recharged again, repeatedly.

There is a new rechargable battery brand in Singapore recently. First knew about it from a review at www.handtintedphoto.com/sale/new.html. Saw it at Popular Book Shop and Kodak Express photo lab.

The brand is Digimax. The 1 hour charger comes with four 2100mAh AA size rechargable batteries and it is selling at S$42.90. Seems to be the best for value so far.
