Default Breakdown of costs for Model Shoots

Hi,

I'm just wondering about the charges for model shoots. Why is it usually >$50 for ten minutes of shooting only please? I'm a novice to model shoots so just aim to understand more.

Thank you.

It depends on whether the shoot is studio or location based and so on. Here's a rough breakdown of the cost factors involved for each.

Studio Shoot (model)
- Studio Hire (based on hourly rate)
- Equipment costs (and depreciation)
- Refreshments (if any)
- Electricity, water, and sundry services
- Profit for studio owner
- Any other wages (eg: makeup person and their costs involved etc).
- Statutory taxes etc

Location Shoot:
- Equipment costs/hire costs
- Additional staff costs (PA's, makeup, hair etc)
- Location hire fees
- Council/Police/Governmental fees/charges as required.
- Refreshments
- Transportation costs
- Taxes
- Sundries

On top of the above add in the cost of the model(s) and that folks can vary from next to nothing for a new model (couple of hundred for a day), to ten thousand plus USD per hour for a so called super model (plus all expenses).
