Some pictures I took in my neighbourhood
Pic 1. ![]() This photo was taken with my school's D70s and 50mm F1.4. I was really new to DSLR then and didn't really know what I was doing. And yes, I know it's noisy, it's a D70s at ISO 1600.. Using built in flash Pic 2. ![]() Group shot. The guy doing air is pro and the rest of them were very sporting. In retrospect, I should have used fill flash since I owned a SB800 by this time. but i was still struggling with my D300 and tamron 17-50. The AF of this combi can be piglike Pic 3. ![]() A different angle from the previous shot. Not as nice, imho, but I kinda like the composition. Lamp growing out of boy in white tee noted! Pic 4. ![]() I just like this shot. I wish i'd gone closer, this is a crop because of someone's head at the bottom of the frame. But my lens was more than 50cm away, i think. HDR-like effect is unintentional. the contrast was a bit too high so i tried to boost the shadows and recover highlights in camera raw. the skin colour not very good . focus point was left to the camera to decide, and of course, it will focus on something irrelevant, such as the spokes of the front wheel I have loads more pix but see how u guys receive my pix. CRITICISM is MOST WELCOME. compliments are nice but won't help me improve. but please try to be constructive *** edited to include picture numbers Last edited by boyboy; 9th January 2009 at 07:40 AM. thanx.. they were from separate shoots actually. i'd post more photos but for the fact that i didn't enjoy scrolling thru threads with more than 5 photos, particularly photos which are half past 6
the first pic was shot on a night i couldn't sleep. i saw the bikers in action and went downstairs with the camera. i'm only posting these pix cos i didn't manage to sleep last nite. damn insomnia ![]() pardon my ramblings ![]()

yeah, i ride. XC and road nia . after dislocating an elbow at kent ridge (stupid me), i really cut back on riding and never really rediscovered my mojo ![]() need to get more saddle time, and i'd really like to be able to pack my cameras safely for cycling. then i can enjoy both hobbies at the same time
