    Dude:

I guess you need the plywood for a backdrop, am I correct?

My other hobby is DIY, so I'm quite familiar with getting basic hardware.

There are a couple of places that you can try, depending on your area:

    Lavender (near ICA) area:

Ban Heng Long trading, Teck Heng Long Bldg.
Google it up, their phone number should be up there.

There's another wood shop in some dilapidated looking building like less than 100m away, but I don't have the name or contact details of that shop.

    Sungei Kadut:

just google around for plywood board. There are a lot of shops around that area, but I never bothered to go there since I live in the East.

Being wood shops, they also sell beams and everything you need for woodwork.

Plywood board is sold in standard size of 8ft x 4ft. You can ask them to cut it for you, but you will incur cutting charges (of like 50cents per cut or something around there). You cannot buy part of a standard size board.

Cost of items is about this:

    - Board: $13.50 for 6mm thick (thats all I can remember)
    - 2 by 1 incher wood (not plywood) beam: $3.60
    - Screws, nails - like $2-3 for like 1 bag
    - Castors - depending on size.

My advice to you: Buy thin boards, save the $$, and spend the $$ saved on 2 by 1 inchers. That way, your backdrop is structurally more sound.

And, yah, btw, what made you post this question up here on a photography forum ah? Kind of funny leh......

Call them and ask whether they have that sort of beams in stock. You must know what you are looking for though and be specific about it. E.g. I want x number of 2 by 1 inchers, cut each 2by1 incher into 4 2 ft sections, etc.

Btw, 2 by 1 inchers are 8 ft long standard size.

Depending on where you live, stores selling wood are almost everywhere. The low rise factories near Paya Lebar MRT, for instance, has quite a lot too. Sungei Kadut is obviously the biggest. Give them a call first to see how much they sell their stuff first, better than a wasted visit.

As with every delivery order you must pay downpayment first, but no need for downpayment in cash and carry.
