As stated in the title, I am suggesting disabling the setting which bumps up a thread as "new" each time a vote is cast in a poll. When it appears in the Users Control Panel, it gives the suggestion that it si a new thread and there's something new to read. However clikcing on it shows no new post, just that a new vote has been cast.
I suggest that the admins consider disabling this function, such that the casting of a vote does not bump the thread as being a "new" post. This will lead to a better organisation of the control panel and not having to click threads again and again, only to see that there is nothing new to read. Serious discussion is entertained. |

Definitely agree on vince's suggestion. Personally I only scan the first page, but sometimes an interesting thread I've been following drops off to 2nd page and it's almost always due to the bumping up of polls. I don't understand how sometimes a massive number of poll threads can be drudged up from yesteryear and bumped up to 1st page... who (clearly has) time to do all these things...
Since on the topic of polls... Maybe the admin can set a time limit on polls created per member, say they be allowed 1 poll thread every 30/60 days. There are some meaningful polls made years ago, which are still in play even now but there are also some quite bo liao polls springing up, most especially in Kopitiam. Sure it's TCSS in there but come'on... I'm sure making it a normal thread will suffice. It's not a biiiiiiiiiiiiig problem just an eyesore for me. I'm pretty sure I've only created 1 poll thread all my time here so far. Are there really that many questions needed to be polled? Thanks and have a nice day. |

I agree with this suggestion.
Take a look at the General, Reviews and Tech Talk forum, the whole of page 1 is filled with polls, many of which are bumped up by voting.

Noted on the request. This is a catch-22 situation because the poll thread will quickly drop out of sight if it wasn't bubbled up as not everyone who answers the poll will update the thread.
Most effective solutions/suggestions :- a) Members to set an end-date (eg 7 days, 14 days) to the poll b) Report polls that are dug up and Moderators will close them. At the same time, we will investigate a mod to set a default end-poll date for new polls being created. |

i.e. Poll : Who has a D3x, then we link this to the Nikon sub-forum as a normal thread. That way no polls will be created outside the "Polls" sub-forum to mess up the normal threads and discussions. |

We have also implemented a default 7-day expiry for all new polls being created. |
