Default Are we too harsh with closing of threads?

refering to this
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460044

granted that there is another thread regarding which lens to get for babies, the above newbie just wanted some friendly advice on which CAMERA, D60 or D90, for taking babies.

It is his/her first few posts in CS and I think closing of the thread is hardly the way to welcome a newbie.

I dunno, I thought the thread was pretty harmless....

I agree with you, the forum has become too strict for comfort...

how about the thread I linked?
Should that thread be closed? I thought that thread in question is pretty harmless.... I thought that is one of the major reason why newbies join clubsnap equipment forums: To get opinons from more experienced DSLR users regarding equipment.

BTW, which thread are u talking about which should be closed?

u see.. u have the word "i thought" quite a couple of times. well, all i can say is that we do the confirming.

but to address your topic: clubsnap has been, and will continue to be, more help than harm to the photographic community, so don't worry too much about that.

as for which threads should be closed? how about THIS ONE?

if u're still not understanding what we're about, please also read DCA's post in this thread.

Only the Phoenix rises and does not descend.
And everything changes.
And nothing is truly lost.

I think seriously, fellow CSers new and more senior must start using the search thread tool. There is a lot of repeated threads, again and again. Some are new users I can understand, but will you cause such a stir if you went into a new company and started asking questions that you ought to have know by listening. I really think it's time to rethink what our locals have become of over the year, more reliant on bailouts, waiting to be spoonfed.

I have no problem with closing threads. Luckily Kopitiam knows how to tc with limits nowadays. Last time it was almost like sammyboy coffeeshop where mockery, insults, and crude jokes flew all over the place. If I were the admin at that time, I would have shut down the whole Kopitiam.
