    This is an example of the type of photo what I took in the not too distant past.

    I would look at this and say to myself, what am I trying to say?

    The picture by itself doesn't make a statement. I believe this is the bowsprit of a sailing ship and it probably makes more sense as part of a photo essay rather than as a stand alone picture. The colours is vibrant but not striking to make a statement in itself. There are some ropes and pulleys and spars and stuff but there is no strong pattern emerging from the picture. A hint of something but not quire there yet.
    Also not close enough to see texture to hint at age or use. Not close enough for still life.
    In the end, not quite the picture I had hoped to achieve in my previous similar attempts.

    I would perhaps have look for another angle to juxtapose more of the lines and pulleys together and crop them tighter in the frame to create a stronger image. Or go real close and isolate the interesting elements. what do you think?
