Default S2Pro - is yours still working??

is your S2 working? 2 Dec ago (ie Dec 06), i sent in mine for repair. Was told that it will cost 1k plus to repair as the electronics need to be replaced.

Not willing to spend the amount, i collected it back in the middle of this year (yes, after storing it for 1.5 years at the service centre). Tried to take 2 take a few shots just now, the camera seems to work. Hope that it will pass the stress test and the same problem will not resurface.

The question, how many out there are still holding on to a functional S2?

Bro Iceman,
Sounds like there is some danger in buying a second hand S2 Pro. Thanks for the reminder.

which service center did you send to? if my 'future' s2pro have this problem i'll know what to do. sent it to the service center and wait for 1.5 years then everything will be back to normal.

in case there is any misunderstanding....
(1) i sent the camera for servicing because the problem was intermittent.
(2) i choose to leave it at the service centre. in fact, the service centre called me twice to collect my camera.

My first S2Pro developed a battery problem (drains C123 quickly) and had hot pixels, maybe dead pixels. Currently retired - may revive it if my venture into rechargeable 123 is successful.

My two other S2Pro's are still in use, both sparingly. 1 with my son as school camera. The other I take to the depths of the ocean when scuba diving. Both in perfect working conditions.

Using for diving cos housing costs a bomb, otherwise would have ditched the S2Pro...

The final push to upgrade came due to:
- noise at higher ISO
- slow continuous burst rate to catch children playing

Now using D300, but missed the colour of S2Pro. Spending a lot of time in front of computer to get the colour right with D300.

I noticed that at times, if I take a few quick successive shots, the camera would indicate that the AA batteries are flat. If I turn off and on the camera again, operation would resume.

I think this battery problem will be solved if the additional battery grip is attached which allow it to use AA battery.

But it works for me I did tried without the battery grip and after a while it will show the low batt sign even though fully charge. But ever since i attached the battery grip(modified to fit it nicely) no problem so far(a few years already)

Lucky.
I think there is a clause on the service form, something like they can dispose of any cameras not collected or no reply after 90 days?

In term of colors, the S2 Pro is still king. So film-like and natural.

I was informed that if the item is not collected after 12 months, the item will be disposed.

Any way, I realised that there is some problems with the sensor. I can see a horizontal line on the image.

I got mine from a friends 1.5 years ago (is a 2 years old camera back then). Used for 6 months and the camera couldnt take any pic, suspect the sensor faulty. I send it to the service center for diagnose and found that the super CCD component is faulty and was quoted about 1.5K for the replacement. I did my research on this camera and found that there is some production fault with its CCD and call up the service center to enquire. Lucky for me and thanks to them, they replaced the CCD for me on a goodwill basis but i need to pay for the workman and service charges which is about $100.

Love the color of it, during the absent of my S2 pro, i got my Olympus E410. The color simply cant be compare to the S2pro. here a pic of taken by my S2Pro.
