Yup, free 3 months extended warranty "for a limited time only". So better be safe than sorry, it might not be so next time!

If you don't register at all, it will depend on NSC if they accept your warranty claim unless you have the original receipt to prove that the item is still under warranty. |

Take note 3 months extended warranty is for body ONLY. Lens do not enjoy the extended warranty.

Yup, understood that extended warranty is for body only, that's why I registered body only...
Lens likely to sell during warranty period, so never register... ![]()

Better to register and keep receipt as proof. Canon not stupid. Dun have wishful thinking and believe you have lifetime warranty just cos you did not send it in!

Here's what I understand from a conversation with a Nikon Singapore representative:
1. It does not matter if you register online or not. Either case, you MUST present the invoice when servicing the lens. In fact, the sales invoice is, in a sense, more important than the yellow warranty card. Of course, registering online offers you additional 3 months warranty, subject to terms and conditions. 2. If you do not have the sales invoice, then Nikon Singapore with check the serial number in their database and start the warranty from the date Nikon delivers to the retailer. If it has already been 1 year since then, I'm sorry, you're outta luck. 3. So what's the use for the yellow warranty card? It's an INTERNATIONAL warranty card. Thus, if you bring this to a Nikon Service Center in say the USA, then they'll refer to that warranty card. |

Actually I am wondering if they do track the online registration. Just my own suspicion, they could still track but I suspect they don't. So everything is still base on invoice/receipt. But do keep the yellow warranty card too in case they ask as the issue country of invoice/receipt have to match the country indicated in the warranty card, else they have the right to reject warranty claim.
I use the online thing for the purpose of my own tracking. |
