SD8A is specific battery pack to SB-800 flash system. It can be used for SB900

or so i was told by the shop. there seems to be an extra pin on the sb900 flash connector.

there is no extra pin except that the 2 extra square like guide on the middle and right pin hole. the sd9 will have that extra square pattern on the connector so you can't connect to SB800.

Simply put it.
1. A SD8A can be used on a SB 900 and SB 800 2. A SD9A can use on a SB900 only. Cannot be used on SB 800 |

SD8a hold 6 x AAs and SD9a+ms-sd9 hold 8 AAs.
There is a Min. number of flashes/recycling time chart somewhere in BH, might wanna compare it with SD8a. ![]() Happy New Year
