Default 2 Burning Questions pls help: Aperture size and rangefinders

    Hi guys...

pls help me with the following:

    1. Aperture are they EXACTLY the same size for ALL lenses? For example, F2.8 on a 17-40L is it the same aperture diamater as F2.8 on a 50/f1.4?

    2. What are rangefinders? how are they better / worse than conventional SLR?

    Thanks!!

    1. F-stop is ratio of focal length to aperture.
    eg f2.0 for 50mm lens: aperture = 25mm diameter (?).
    f2.0 for 200mm lens : aperture = 100mm diameter.

    2. Try this:

this mean for fixed aperture zooms, the physical aperture actually opens up as you zoom in? cool, never knew that.
