    Default Focusing on Fireworks

    hey guys

how do you focus on fireworks?

as in at what focus do we pre-set (while waiting for the fireworks) before we take the photo?

I'm using a D90 kit lens and there's no distance reading on the lens..

    thanks guys!

    Hi there,

You can try focusing on infinity, or simply auto focus onto the buildings (if any) in the background and swift back to Manual Focus.

    Have fun!

    agree with ***********,
    focus it to infinity.
though I don't shoot fireworks. but since it will be rather far away, focusing to infinity should work

by focusing to infinity, do you mean turning the focus ring all the way to the left?
as my lens doesn't have any distance meter.. (Nikon 18-105mm KIT lens)

Since there is no distance scale/window, focus on any building near the firework launch site will do. You may also want to adjust your aperture to bigger for wider or smaller for narrower light trails.

Wherever your focus falls on.I'm sure at F11,the focus would be beyond the plannar of the fireworks.
