Default How to setup a rear curtain sync shot?

Just learning how to mess with flash and SB600 with a D300. I have surf around and with advise from fellow club snappers check youtube and done search in thie forum... I still can't seem to find any step by step on how to setup for a rear curtain sync shot?... would any one happen to know of any web links or can share with me how to setup on the camera?...

Say I just want take a picture of a car driving by...
:- say at normal road speeds in the late evenings (pretty dark)
:- and cars driving off from the traffic lights (so the speed their moving off will be slower)
:- I should be using a tripod and something like 18-55 f2.8 lens?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Or is there an easier picture setup I can start with taking to train with to "get the idea"?

Hope anyone can help me out.

Thxs!.. and HAPPY NEW YEAR AHEAD!

Just set your flash to rear curtain sync on ur flash, use a tripod and it should work well.

Check out this photo of mine.. using rear curtain flash.

wah first camera is a D300? You must be real serious!
Ok well I wanna help you, but I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. So pardon me if I give you an answer which is already obvious to you.

Rear Curtain Sync, from what I understand, means that the flash fires AT THE END of the exposure. This is the opposite of Front Curtain Sync.
Setting it up involves mounting the SB600 to your D300, powering both up. Press and hold the flash button on the D300 whilst turning the command dial till you get 'REAR'.
After that you shoot as you would normally do.
With 'rear', you see the trail of the tail-lights leading to the car, which will be illuminated by the flash.
With 'front', you see the car illuminated, and the trail of the tail-lights going forward from there.

* this is the best example I can think of to explain the diff between rear and front curtain sync.

set your camera on rear curtain sync is easy, just follow the camera manual.....

the hardest parts is get the shots right, need lot of trial and error. practice, practice and practice.

Adding to it, you need a small aperture, so as to achieve a slow shutter speed and a sharper image.
Happy clicking.
