Default tripod to recommend for $400 budget?

hi guys, i'm thinking of getting a 4-section tripod. Anybody got any recommendations for a tripod+ballhead for max budget of $400?

Preferably should weigh about 1.5kg, and extend to about 50" or 1.3m, load wise should not be an issue as my equipment aren't too heavy.

    Thanks

mmm, gitzo.. for the weight lar..

1.5kg abit light leh (if that includes ball head)

Recently got the gitzo 1541T, which suits yr specs (except price)
    Light tripod (1kg)
    4 sections
    Carbon fiber (light strong)
Height: until neck w/o ball head and w/o central stem extended. (im 1.7m tall)
height when central stem extended is bout eye level(or lower..), if + ball head and camera, viewfinder of camera at my forehead.
Lenght when collapsed 40+++cm (too lazy measure)
    Load: 8kg
Price:... HAHA bust yr budget by 2.5x .... 1k+ (ball head and tripod)

My Advice, u shuld go read more of the other threads, i think one thread this guy ask for $500 buy what tripod(i think, my memory rusty), den get lots of reply.
Also, muz consider ball head weight and lenght, my tripod is damn light, but ball head damn heavy and big, so muz take off ball head den can put in my bag.. so muz consider that too..

maybe 2kg (total weight) is more reasonable for that price, unless u not getting heavy lens, den weight can drop further. depend on load also, give specific value, or if u dunno den think of the heaviest lens u wan get next time.

Also i think somewhere in one thread got this link to gitzo website, is a flash app that allows u to tell it what u wan (specs) den it will show u what tripod (gitzo only) meets yr criteria.

And dont let me sway yr opinion to Gitzo ar, only tried Gitzo and one Manfrotto when i buying, cannot say for the other brands! Ask older members ba.. i still newb

do you really need to spend $400?

can go for a benro 4kg max load setup for about $120-ish there if dont plan on getting anything heavyweight.
