Hey, been reading up a lot on S5Pro, kinda tempted to get it. Have read a lot about the colors that it captures which any other DSLR cant compete with. But then again, have alwys been thinking how much difference of the unedited final product and each DSLRs produce. Anyway am currently using Nikon D80. Would be great if those out there can post photos to show the exact differences taken btween both cameras....Lets start the ball rolling...

As a former Nikon DSLR user and have used the D3 personally, all I can say is the colors and dynamic range from the Fujifilm S5 Pro are no contest.

maybe just to add...i was wondering since s5pro has been in the market for quite some time..how does it really compare to the more recent dslr like the 450d...specs are still specs...im more interested in the real world performance....
just how different would the picture quality differ? |

Pls don't get the wrong message. All cameras are fine, even camera phone. Even a nikon D70 can do wonders in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. If one cannot control the S5 Pro, one will still not do S5's capabilities any justice. S5 Pro is not a everybody kind of camera. Even my 6 year old niece can tell me nikon d60 makes sharper images (in general, same lens) after seeing the shots. Even she finds them a bit softer.
The term image quality is a very difficult measure. Some ppl sees noise control as priority, some ppl sees megapixels (resolution). For me, I choose Fuji simply for its skin tone. I like the kind of "softness" it has on the images. Save me lots of time tuning the image. I also find Fuji images easier to tweak (to my liking). In general, I don't like very sharp portraits, I hardly have the chance to have subjects with perfect skin. And I also do not enlarge the image 200% to look for faults. I have a tough life, I hope to find some joy in this hobby. Fuji gave me the "just right" feel, 90% of the time. You have to ask yourself what is it you are after. I find that its quite slow, but i'm fine with it. I don't machine gun my cameras. Knowing how to use it is 1st priority. To me, any camera can make great pictures, not only Fuji.

with the s5 pro going for $11xx how wrong can you get? that's like getting a pro-level camera at entry-level prices. don't think so much and grab one before the supply runs out.

even if they withdraw from the dslr market, they can't stop servicing existing sets immediately. i'm sure they will stock up parts for some time after the product is no longer in production.
