I was always wondering... why a 50mm F1.8 lens is so cheap compared to a 50mm F1.4 lens?

Maybe you can consider this too.

Brand new at $888 only and comes with a bag, memory card and extra battery. With the excess money you can get a dry cabinet and maybe a tripod too.

Those saying 1k for canon is not managable should rethink.

My current setup stands at 1.2k

    Gripped 350D
    85mm F1.8
    18-55 IS
    55-250 IS

    For a beginner maybe replace the 85 F1.8 with a 50mm F1.8 and its easily below 1k.

350D does pretty neat things if you know your limitations.
    Looking for Canon 100mm F2 USM :)

And what happened to the budget of 1k? I'm guessing thats at least $1600. But its a good setup, I'm happy for you. You should go a long way with that.

If you get everything under S$1k then it is consider quite worth it. But wait.... "memory stick"?? When did 40D uses that instead of CF card?

IMPOSSIBLE that this set-up can be bought for < $1K

wasted all our time suggesting budget options. I feel like such a fool for trying to help.

Seriously I just saw Canon's 70-200 F2.8 L fly past for $500 a few days ago. =( And that same guy sold 16-35L for 400 too.

Good choice. Why dont sell the car and get all the lens you need? Still got enough money left to take taxi for the next 3-5 years? =)

Ahh actually , this is the begining of your spending only. I m pretty sure you will start to fire bullets ( ur cash) on items

    1. Shutter release
    2. Tripods
    3. Filters ( UVs/CPL/ND/GND)
    4. Dry cabinet

Heh but must say that the above items are needed to have an all rounded photography experience ! So they will be well spent money

hi all, im new here. Im thinking of getting a canon dslr (total newbie to the slr cams), but can't decide which model to get (400D or 450D, i have shaky hands when i take pics). Basically im using it to take pics for normal online fashion shop, both indoor and outdoor lighting. Might even use it for normal photography if im really into this slr thing. My budget is at 1.3k max. Any helpful souls can let me know the kinda setup i need and roughly how much they will cost for 2nd hand?
And, is it necessary to get an external flash (wats its use anyway) and those umbrella thingy for lighting purpose if im not mistaken?

Let me know if u guys need more details.

    Thaanks heaps!
