Default White Belly Dive-Catches a Terrapin instead of a fish.

Caught a terrapin instead of a fish

2 personal opinions, either it has mistaken this tortoise for a fizh, Or it was really hungry ! As it was raning ! at that time, the ripples even made it harder for it to see . I am not sure if refractions (Sin I divide by Sin R ) affect the bird's hunt. It goes the same for the KF, not sure.

There was minor direct sunlight before the Belly comes in, and when it comes in, dark clouds came in. So it is a rather unclean image to me due to the noise. It is time for me to get a D24 camera with 1million iso .

there were 2 pairs fishing, 1 came in 10 mins later, the first 1 missed its catch twice . It did touch the water. I realised this eagle dive vertically down at 90 degress too. It was a lifer for me to see this vertical dive.

Good attempt!

Terrapins, frogs and even rats were observed to have been caught. (and eaten i guess)

Looking forward to more pics!

I believe that they know how to release the terrapin at heights towards rocks to break the shell and get right to the meaty parts, I've seen dead terrapins with badly broken shells in Bedok Reservoir.
