Did some tests today comparing the Sigma 10-20 and Tokina 11-16.

The Siggy is wide but not by much though it zooms in a little more than the Tokina. This is useful zoom and not just simply an extra 4mm.

Sigma 10mm, 1/8 second, f4, natural light is behind me, darkened 2 steps :

Sigma 20mm, 1/60 second, f5.6, darkened 2 steps, natural light is on my right (flash went off accidentally doh!) :

Tokina 16mm, 1/30 second, f2.8, darkened 2 steps, natural light is behind me (she's standing closer to me here) :

I think I could have done better in the comparison but here's what I can conclude :

    - Sigma 10-20 is not worst than the Tokina, its older and cost a little less but it is a great lens. I think if I didn't know about the Tokina I would be just as happy with the Sigma.
    - In the restaurant with the light behind me, the Sigma was less livelier than the Tokina and not as sharp, the Tokina was brighter and sharper (shot at 2.8) especially when I toned down the light.
    - Sigma at 10mm produced a slightly more stretched image than the Tokina (see Arthur's coffee in the first picture).
    - Sigma was not as sharp in the corners though this isn't very important for casual shooting IMO, typically people look at the centre of the picture where it matters more.
    - I definitely prefer NO FLASH! My model's skin tone looks a lot better in natural light

Flares are going to be a problem especially if you want to do special effects like this :

I didn't do this properly but I do notice a little flares which the Tokina has problems with while shooting in direct sunlight.

I probably won't be using GNDs but an ND would be alright for something like this (ok I didn't put it on properly) :

    Enlighten me...
