Default A night in Orchard

First time posting in Critique corner.

Saw this moment when this lady taking her handphone to take the chirstmas tree at Takashimaya. Focusing is at her handphone screen.
I wanted to show chirstmas season is here in Singapore in this picture.

Camera: Canon EOS 300D Digital
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 800
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV

hey.
not a bad shot at all.
the concept is there, the bokeh is good.
but somehow, it couldn't really distinguish that it's Christmas season, as the Christmas tree taken from the hp (i'm assuming it's a Christmas tree, can't see properly though) is way too small.
a crop may and may not work here.
cos if you crop to make the phone bigger, the lady's head might not be visible, which i think will not have make a big impact on the photo anymore.
but overall this shot is colorful.

this shot works for me.. i love the blue bokeh.. i think cropping it in portrait orientation should give more impact and remove the negative space on the right...

Would be nicer if the phone screen was large enough to see the tree. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/image...lies/smile.gif

Nice Bokeh, maybe it would be abit better to do an extra cropping to focus on the handphone... just my 2 cents...

do not like this shot. nice bokeh is not useful when it serves zero purpose.

if you had gone closer, so that we can see more details on the screen, and the bokeh in the background resembles that of the tree she is shooting, that might have worked. not this.

SUggest that since you got the idea, try again, this time with a friend to hold the cameraphone, so you can do the adjustments.
Keep shooting!

for me, it would be nice if the person holding the phone is a bit clear-not soft, but this demonstrate how good your lens is. nice!

Maybe a 85mm focal length, vertical format ,might be able to compress the perspective.

aye like most of the other comments, a closer view of the christmas tree would help amplify the story you're bringing across. happy christmas for anyone who's in the mood. i'm certainly not really in the festive mood not year for some odd reason. must be army.
