Default The Sandman Came (I)

“’Twas in my arms thy lisping tongue
First spoke the half-remembered word,
While o’er thy tottering steps I hung,
My fond protection to afford.”

— Hans Christian Andersen, Ole Lukøje

This is part one of a three-part series of photos that I took of my daughter when she was a day old.

I'm pretty new with this dslr thing and I was still hospitalized when I took this shot and was a barely walking, complete mess. And the shot was taken in my hospital room so the lighting wasn't perfect. Right. Now that I'm done with the excuses.

I know my focus isn't perfect and the shot may be too tight for some people. Well, I like taking extreme close-ups as I feel the emotions portrayed by the image multiply by ten-folds with macro shots as such.

So, what do you think of the conversion to black and white? Other comments and critiques wll be much appreciated. : )

Too bad detail in highlights are lost, can you get them back?

i must say this is a very good capture. composition was good and the execution was good as well. well done.

definitely the black and white for me. only nitpick is that it seems to be rather noisy.

Never mind about the good or bad, right or wrong. In twenty years time....you and her will cherish it...the time of your life.
