I knew about the pricing and stuff about D90. Now i need to know more about 50D. I need to know: Q1. Price for bundle kit I to III (for me,i prefer kit III wif the 18-200mm) Q2. Are there still have stock for 50D (as i knew, many place in sg are running out of stock for D90) Q3. Wad is white lens for Canon (haha, newbie question) I knew is abit unfair comparing this 2 DSLRs as they are from diff level. But i only consider to buy either 1 of them. and i has been poisoned by both fans. hahaha.. PS: pls don't not let this become a heating topic. I really need help from u guys. after all, we are just wanna to take great pictures and improve ourself. |

1. price differ from shop to shop so use online websites in US$ as rough guide.
2. Sure have one just that whether Canon SG want to release to consumer or sell to corporate i thinks. 3. L lenses are canon flagship range of lens.

If you are willing to spend as much as the price of Canon 50D, so why do you choose between Canon 50D vs. Nikon D90?
I mean, why don't you choose between Canon 50D vs. Nikon D300? Canon 50D & Nikon D300 are in the same price level While Nikon D90 is just a way below both of them. But.. judging from your requirement, my suggestion is... don't spend ("invest") too much on the body and save more for lenses and you won't regret it Because by next year, you will see new bodies for both Canon & Nikon, but lenses most likely will be the same. ![]() If you take Nikon D90 + Nikkor 18-200mm, total is around $2600 ($1400+$1200). If you take Nikon D300 + Nikkor 18-200mm, total is around $3250 ($2050+$1200). If you take Canon 50D body only $1800-$2000, but Canon doesn't have the original 18-200mm like Nikon does, so you have to get it from 3rd party manufacture such as Tamron or Sigma. 3 years ago, I'd been just like you now, confused choosing which SLR, which lens, etc. And after few months, I realized: 1st of all.. it is the man behind the camera who makes good photographs, and 2nd... a good quality lens does talk, man! So, again, don't bother to spend too much on SLR body, save your money for better lenses in the future if you need 'em ![]() |

But of course, those lenses got some drawbacks: 1st) expensive price; 2nd) weight! yes, they are relatively heavier than all those amateur lenses. But for starter, you can just go for "all around" lens like: Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 VR or Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (thanks to insanekvn). These lenses are very suitable for people who travels so much like you, so you don't need to change lens very often. Whoaa.. that is a good, Man! Thank you so much I'm a Nikonian, but I always try to be neutral ![]() So that is a good news for anybody who wants to buy Canon Usually my Canonian friends will go for Tamron AF 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD (IF) Macro. |

Agree with others, get a decent body (Meaning not one that is already outdated or discontinued..) and invest more on lenses. Cos lenses retain value better as well. My current setup is a D90 + Nikon 18-200 (wat else for travelling?) + Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (non-motor) + Nikon 50mm f1.8 + SB600. Love the portraits from my Tamron and versatility of the 18-200. THe D90 body is awesome enough for my needs now and light enough to lug around, up and down everywhere. Advise is to work out what else you're interested in, ie macro, scenery, sports, night.. etc then you can get clearer idea what lenses setup to get. |

Hi again, just trying to help alphinestars here, if he hasn't decided it yet.
Quality wise, both Nikon & Canon are in par. Unless you are a pixel peeper or obsessed with gadget detail specification, there are not much different between them, really. So, it's really up to your taste & preferences. Here are some tips of choosing DSLR body (Nikon or Canon): 1. The look. Yes, we have to admit sometimes we choose things because of its beautiful look ![]() 2. The feel. Compare both cameras by holding it. How does it feel in your hand? Is it comfortable? Can you hold it steadly? 3. The touch. How about the buttons and dials? Can you reach them easily with your fingers? Which layout of buttons & dials do you prefer? Try to change some basic setting using those buttons & dials. 4. The interface. I'm talking about its firmware. How does it look? Try to change some setting on it. Is it easy for you or rather confusing? Does it has any internal help or explanation about the particular menu that you are selecting? Some people with larger hand find that point [2] is more important then the rest, that's why usually they will choose D300 or 50D just because these cameras are slightly bigger. I found that this point [3] & [4] are important for me, since DSLR body with better user-interface will let me concentrate on taking pictures than busy with the setting It likes comparing Macbook with Mac OS installed & Sony Vaio with Windows installed, I found my self much-much more productive & happier working on Macbook with Mac OS So which camera that will make you more productive & happier in taking pictures? ![]() |

Thanks for the good points above. Btw, will the weight of the camera affect the performace. i mean like if it too heavy, then u start shake when u take pictures(something like tat) coz the D300 is good, but is like much heavier than 50D and D90. after poisoned again. i choosing from 50D,D300 and D90. like many said, invest more on lens. Is nikon has better lens? like comparing 50mm f1.4 for both brand. |

why not the fuji s5pro it gives amazing colours esp skin tones if you are into human portraitures. its like 1.2k only. other than that. i think the D90 i a great cam but i did go fr d300 since you are willing to fork out for the canon 50D. If i were you, i get a 5D used
