I find it a pretty tough choice. What matters to me is to be able to take reasonably good pics at night/low light; can snap moving objects (travel);not too heavy (travel). Have read the reviews on dpreview and all. G10 is solid but zoom only to 140, and zooming onto an object in a dim location at ISO800 f4.5-5 1/30, surprisingly the pic turned out quite dark wherelse the same settings on the SX10 was much brighter. 450D ofcourse topped.
Not sure abt moving objects, did not have the opportunity to test that. Would appreciate advice from the more 'pro' members here as I am truly a novice. Thanks. |

go for 450D if you think in future you want to explore into canon lens series, if you have budget constraint you might consider 1000D then. cheaper and can give you what you want.
consider those compact or pro-consumer if you sick and tired of travelling with extra weight. once you selected DSLR you can start to forget about lighter weight for holiday or tour trip...

Apologise... but this Panasonic LX3 is out of your scope. Just try to recommend this to you. DPreview has it's.

Why not get a 450D with a 18 ~ 200mm kit lens? It should provide enough "zoom" for your travel and it offer better noise control than any of your mentioned camera...
