Default 3rd party flash

My camera's a 1000D. I'm looking to getting an external flash.

I'm thinking of getting a el-cheapo 3rd party flash. The Vivitar 285HV seems like a rather good budget option. I plan to get a flash bracket to use it off-camera.

Any advice?

The 1000D does not have a PC sync port. Is it better to get a PC sync adapter? Or to use radio triggers?

theres no ttl functionwith the vivitar. vivitar hv an auto mode with its thrystor circuit.

to each his own to go with the cord or radio. no pc jack, there's always ways to work around that.

in that case a classic advice.

"pay peanuts get ........."

Unless you actually know how to use a flash extra features or rather you need to use...a plain flash will do.

If you want to mount it directly to camera hotshoe.... please check and make sure the voltage compatible to ur cam... Some 3rd party flash with high voltage can damage ur cam

since you are using it off camera.... might as well get a simple wireless trigger and go strobist style... with a simple lightstand.... its best not to hot-shoe mount a 3rd party flash on ur camera unless u really know the voltage threshold is safe....
