Nikon Lens Cheap in Malaysia?

Went to malaysia last week. Casually ask a camera shop how much is their Nikon 50mm f/1.8D last week and their answer is RM330! (S$139)

Immediate placed an order and waiting to collect next week

D90 in JB is $3900 which is about the same as Singapore. Given that lens have international warranty, next time I'll just buy lens in JB? (since i am from JB, haha)

but... if like that come back will kena tax?

I think like that even kena taxed 7% still cheaper than buying in Singapore.
And photographic equipment is tax free in malaysia, guess that's y it is cheap.

Btw at KL got this shopping centre beside Sungei Wang....very similar to our Sim lim...have anyone check that out?

Yes, electronic and photography goods can be cheaper in Malaysia - if you know where to go. Just watch out for the Sim Lim tactics in some shops. Cameras are tax free. There is no 7% GST. Shop rental and labour cost is lower so the shops can make do with lower margins. Friends have shared with me that they bought stuff cheaper in Penang. Have yet to find out where.

Take note DSLR body is local warranty.
Anything got to bring back to Malaysia Nikon.

Last sun i went Fotokem, Sg Wang KL, I found there are selling Nikon SB-900 @ RM1,500 (@2.38 = SGD630) and Sigma 18-200mm OS @ RM1,800 (@ 2.38 = SGD756). Both the price is negotiable. Anyway, anyone know how much the Nikon flashlight & Sigma lense is selling in Singapore?

i just bought some stuffs from dis shop 'Me Too'... there's 1 in angsana
n another in jusco tebrau city. just imagine, da MB-D10 cost me RM690,

yup, da 1 in tebrau city normally will quote more for da same item than da
1 in angsana... try to bargain lor

bot da sb-900 for RM1450 at angsana branch but quoted RM1650
at da tebrau city branch

Hi Gihan,

I'm a Johorian working in S'pore, I came to know this online shop ( gadgetsdeal.com)thru flyer during the recent JB PC fair at Persada International Convention Centre.
I bough a Olympus Mju 1060 at that website @ RM 986, i would have spend additional RM363 if i buy it at the shop during the PC fair, of cause no free tripod,no free leather case but they gave me a free 2GB Kingston micro sd card.
