We know Canon has launch a new lense 18-200mm. However I would like to hear any of your comment about the quality and sharpness of the lens.
If compare it against third party similar range lens. Of which one is worth to buy and last longer time. Thanks for your suggestion and comment. |

personally i wouldn't even borther getting either lens.
however if i were going to buy either lens it would be canon. Sigma's 18-200 has bad distortion.

if you don't need the telephoto end of the spectrum and budget permits, perhaps consider the 24-105 F4L?
i haven't personally used it but reviews and feedback suggests it's a pretty good lens with a pretty useful range. |

blue2th: using the 24-105 you lose out on two aspects - 18-24 and 105-200. You may be able to do without the telephoto range, but the wide range is quite useful...

i would like to know is it worth to buy this canon 18-200 or 70-200 F4.
Since I have a standard zoom lens and plan to have a telephoto. May I know how much the current price for 70-200 F4? Any shop can recommend to me where provides instalment payment. Thanks |

Interesting, 18-200 vs 70-200 . They are not meant to be compared in my opinion. But if you are looking for telephoto end; seems like 70-200 is the way to go. F4 IS.
18-200 is for convenience and in my opinion a lens for people who travel. It's a different category altogether vis-a-vis the 70-200. Furthermore, 70-200 F4 IS is perhaps the best Canon lens ever made. My humble opinion. Prices can be found in the sticky threads. The last I checked the 70-200 was approx 1.5K(Cheapest) ? I might be out-dated and wrong. Last edited by faineant; 18th December 2008 at 10:16 AM. |

I agree with faineant. Since you already have a standard zoom, the 70-200 f4 IS is one of the better lens around (in terms of IQ and weight).
Most of the bigger shops (CP, AP) do have monthly installments via credit card but they charge you the extra 2%. |

Sorry, but i have to say it is not worth the $$$ to get this len..rather spend better in 70-200 if you need the tele
