    I am a totally newbie to photography. Lately, more and more friends are into SLR esp Canon. Would like to develop like a business cum hobbies. Anyone can guide?

    And what on earth does your statement of "more friends are into SLR esp Canon" have to do with you wanting to develop a business?

    what are you asking for?
    a business and a hobby is sort of mutually exclusive. One you do for profit. One you do purely out of your own interest.

    I think you're thinking of going pro, am I right?

    Do read up and brush up the basics first and work towards that.

    Regarding your statement 'Lately, more and more friends are into SLR esp Canon' I guess it just show that it's a popular brand. There are many pros who use Nikon, Sony, Pentax & Olympus too.
