Any lens can be used for street photography. It all boils down to your style. You like wide angle shots or you like subject to be excluded from background (blurred)? You like to take the shot up close or far away to be discreet?

I'd like a wide range too basically..from wide to zoom..more flexible i suppose..blurring the background from the subject..
Am abit unfamiliar with Minolta lenses..would the 24-105 be suitable or would you guys recommend another lens from minolta? I only have the 50 f1.7 from minolta...and so far..am lovin it..

You might want to check out the user reviews of the Minolta 24-105 on dyxum.com?
http://www.dyxum.com/reviews/lenses/....asp?IDLens=31 as well as its various sample images: http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11369 The slightly cheaper alternative to this FF lens would be its predecessors: the 2 versions of the Minolta 24-85.

24-105mm is a great lens but if you can find the 28-135mm f4-4.5 that would be great. Otherwise, you can consider the Tamron 24-135mm also. These lenses are pretty sharp.

Hard to find one for all, i use the following:
Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 - cover at least 75% of the time Minolta 11-18 wide - for wide angle street and building scence Sony 70-300ssm - for close up shot on object and people at distant away ![]() If you find one that fits all and produce good picture, i like to now too ![]() |
