I have never really heard of a Holga before (since I am pretty new to photography) but I ran across an entry with some pretty nice photos taken by a Holga. The user says that:

"The camera house is simple plastic that is actually not super tight so there are some areas where you load the film which are exposed to sunlight. The idea is that you have to use duck-tape to cover as much you want to make the film exposed to the leaks or not. "

    Sounds interesting.

What do you think of the photographs?
Is a Holga something you would recommend, as it doesn't seem so expensive?

Its not really right to say that is not so expensive. Assuming you shot 120 format, the developing and scanning to CD is around $12. Thats about $1 per shot.

But, like you said, it IS fun.

the camera is not so ex. its the developing and long term costs. i used to shoot holgas, now moved to dslrs. prob wont visit my babies in awhile. but in the meantime you can see my photos here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/pfurr/tags/holga/

also quite a steep learning curve so you have to be prepared for these kinda considerations!
