Well read waht I just wrote in my ealier message to this one...

Aiya hard to go into full details if you are not technical incline heheh but what I can say is this... AGP is old and slower. PCI Express is the NOW and FUTURE. In the market if you can find 20 AGP graphic board on sale...you will find almost 100 PCI SLOT on sale.

AGP and PCI Express my friend is not a technical launguage of something build in the CHIP SET. It refer to the way it fit on the motherboard. Still confuse? Okay..my house key can not use on your house key hole as the key are cut in a difference shape. So your house key also will not work in my house key.. Now you know what I mean!?!??? heheh ACP is a difference slot design to the PCI Express. There is no adapter for it. It is totally difference tech. heheh

SO STOP LOOKING AT ALL THE PCI EXPRESS SLOT graphic cards!!!!!! hehehehe You will hardly find any of those card you mentioned ina AGP version!!!

If you look for their equal partner card under PCI EXPRESS slot type....they are cheaper or you can't find already as they are too old that people also don't want to buy them in the PCI EXPRESS version.

Tough luck if you are still into gamming and want to play the latest games like Fallout 3( which I just finish and it was excellent) in high res and smoother graphic and full 32bit colour.. your new PC is using 2+yrs tech. It will have a hard time catching up with games. But the good news is for work and basic use like internet..it is still fine.

I don't have to look far or need to know all the component you mentioned. BUT the fact that it has an INBUILT graphic card means this machine will not be good for serious gamming like in 3D and high graphic rendering for those RPG game and high resolution. But the PCI EXPRESS card you mentioned is not bad. It's better then the 6600GT you mentioned heheheh

Ifyou are a power use or really into gamming... the last thing you want to do is buy a mother board with inbuilt sound card or graphic card. They are value added features to help sell them to people on a budget. really gamers always then to be the "money is no object" group. So ifyou don;t come into this category..then you are pretty out or you have to compromise on the standard and be happy playing games that is less demanding or you play 3D games in as low a resolution and accept some frame rate dropping. There is really no such thing as "cheap and good". Something has to be compromise.

you need to get more ram for it though...and maybe a bigger HDD as 80gig in today's standard is not really alot. How big are your two old HDD?

Dom, u havent bought yr cpu stuffs right?? if so, do take a look at the price list from SLS. Some shops got their own customised CPU set at various price. Sure can fit yr 800 budget.

PCI and PCI Express are about two difference things on your motherboard bro. heheh

PCI is really a Grandfather input slot type heheh

Historically it is just after ISA slot and VESA slots. After those came PCI then come AGP. After AGP then comes PCI Express.

This Slots are how you connect things like modem card, sound card and SVGA & Graphic cards, network cards to your motherboard. In the old days, graphic is so primative and slow that you can get away with using those same slots ( ISA, VESA and PCI) to put your graphic card. But when technology and speed improved,,,they need even faster "pathway" to send data stream for a graphic card to the motherboard. So a BIGGER DOORWAY has to be made. So this give birth to AGP which is up to 8 times faster then a PCI. But in the last few years, even that is NOT ENOUGH so was born the PCI Express. This one is 16times faster then your old AGP slot. So most graphic card makers are now making graphic cards for those slots so as they can offer even faster graphic card. So...who wants to make AGP anymore heheh.. Some still offer them because for normal computer working like running Microsfot Office and internet( basic internet) ..etc you hardly make use of all the bandwidth of a AGP still. So PCI Express is really the choice of high performance application like 3D rendering and gamming that used 3D. If you are play 2D gaming like adventure which is still photo and wordings and clicking some icon..those games you can run a AGP type card also more then enough. Even for graphic editing on Photoshop a AGP will do...unless you are running the newest and latest Photoshop CS4 which has not included plugiin to make full use of the 3D grahic engine CPU to do computation. That one you need the PCI express. But that is still very rare.

NOW...please tell me you understand all this now in the simplet of laymen terms to explain it heheeh... my saliva very dry liao leh heheheheheh

So long as you are now looking at second hand system that is about 2 yrs old. For sure...no PCI EXPRESS slots. It would be AGP. My own fastest graphic card I run on AGP was a Radeon 9550 with 256 mb RAM. And that was 2+ yrs ago. It will not play Gears of War fast or well heheh.. I am sorry your PC died but if you hoping to get another PC that is not new, you will be downgrading and not upgrading your gamming experience. BUT it will still be fine for internet surfing and general school work that does not require any 3D computation..etc for example.

Most motherboard should have at least one PCI Express 16 slot... I feel like changing mine to one tat has got 2 PCI Express 16 slots, which is a more expensive type... becoz having only 1 tat is occupied by my graphic card, i have no more to put in a Firewire800 PCI card that says it requires a PCI Express 16 slot...

420watts power supply is not enough in my opinion. Get at least 450watts. Get those with box type with 3 or 5 yrs warranty better... Dun get these ICute type lah. Looks ugly & lousy. I recommend Vantec brand, 3 yrs warranty, very quiet, black chrome finishing for the case, very beautiful, all the wires of a cable is sleeved up nicely from the factory, very neat & nice. It is not too expensive. Got 460watts, 500watts & beyond. Bell System 5th flr SLS is cheapest. I recommend this power supply.

Now DVD rewriter very cheap. Pioneer one with Lightscript is only $49. Why still get DVDrom only?

80gb hdd is enough meh? Provided you got external hdd.

Doesn't support Dual Core or Quad Core processor chip.

Heavy is good...really good build quality and it would last you along time and being big as in the interior...you can also improve air circulation and makes it easier to get inside to much-about ifyou want to add or take out parts.
