Default Sony Alpha Cameras

Hi all, I'm Josh... A newbie in DSLR cameras.
I'm thinking of buying the Alpha series but just dunno which model to buy.
I had been using the F707 digital camera for quite a few good years till the batts died on me this year. It was a good camera but I guess humans are "fan jian"... lol... juz kidding.

Was thinking of upgrading to alpha series.
A900 is out - too high cost.
So thinking of the following models.
A300, A350 & A700
Which model would you experts recommend?

Awaiting your prompt comments...
Thanks

If live-view is not a concern for u, A700 would be a nice choice.
A very good cam with overall performent having an edge over A300/350. Should be able to get a 2nd-hand in this forum at a decent price but bare in mind a revised A700 might be in Sony's lineup soon next year.

A300 and A350 - high-end entry-level DSLR.
A700 - mid-range, prosumer DSLR

The A700 is a superior camera in many ways. But if Live View is a "must", then I suggest the A300 or A350.

I have the A350 & A700. A700 for more "serious" work like weddings, etc. The AF is faster and more accurate. A350 is not shoddy, too. I use it for leisure shooting, landscapes, cityscapes, etc. Am in London now, shooting with the A350. The Live View with tiltable screen is excellent when shooting touristy places where there are large crowds standing in front of you. A lot of people pooh-pooh LV, but IMO, it really does come in useful at times. Makes life a lot easier.

Which model to get is also depedent on your budget. Never regret getting my A700 so far. It was an upgrade from Dunax 5D and I think the price is well worth it.

Try a 2nd hand A700. Many are upgraders to A900. So worthwhile to buy their cameras.

I had bought the A350 from a forummer here.
Had been using it since it got into my hands and am very happy with it.

A few of my opinions on the camera.
1. Abit noisy when focusing and taking pics.
2. If without battery grip, it's a tad too small for my hands.

Other than this 2 comments, im very happy with the set up.

I had the opportunity to have a hands-on with A700 & A900 at a shop in Sweden and am super impressed by them.
1. Minimal noise and fast when auto focusing.
2. Minimal noise when taking pics.

But the prices in Sweden is really a turn off.
Imagine adding a 25% tax on them.
You do your math.
It will really burn a big hole in your pocket.

Welcome to the Alpha family Josh.

Yes, the A700 and A900 are indeed sweet models but liek you mentioned it comes with a price tag and that's one of the difference in the higher end bodies.

If you have the $$$, get the SSM lenses which are fast and silent.

Buy overseas if you don't have to pay tax on returning to Sweden... otherwise you've just got to bite the bullet...

Currently using a Sigma 10-20mm, Sony 18-70mm & 55-200mm Kit Lens.
Still wandering ard looking for lens. Duno what lens to buy.
Many ppl say to have a range of lens but im stuck with the Sigma lens right now.
Really ove the UW angles that it can cover. Just that there's some vignetting in the corners.
