Default Backfocus Issues

After some testing with my CZ 16-80 , i started to notice to backfocus issues with my a350. It apppeared very obvious when opened to f3.5 . I normally shoot at f6 and above so this stayed under my radar. I decided to do a test and it is very obvious back focussing. It occurs on the kit lens as well , but much more pronounced on the Carl Zeiss. Now it is in SSC !

Suggest all new buyers to test their focus in the first 3 days so that can get 1-1 exchange.

No need for 1-1 exchange... Let SSC take care of it, takes 1-2 days.

Sorry but can I ask how to know whether if back-focusing occurs on my set?

Any indications? I do notice the camera tends to focus all over the place, that's why now I set the AF area to center...

well if your back focus is very obvious , just place a maybe 3 or 4 objects in a line , maybe some distance apart , i placed them about 15 cm or so apart. Then focus on the center object , you should get the third one sharp instead , try to focus on all parts of the body. If it consistently gives you the back object in focus you know something is wrong. Try it with the first object as well.

Thanks for your advice.

I have tried using your method and luckily my set works fine for front and back focusing...

That's what they always say. But for most of us here, we had it returned to us within 2 days.

dont be paranoid with those focus test result. it is not accurately. there are hundred of debates on this type of test. hence i wont argue here.

the best test is to go out door and test, shoot your friends, family and etc..

also, the focusing under flurosent light is tricky.
