Hello,
I was hoping to get a review/comparison of the Fuji 602Z. I read at dpreview, and know a lot of the very nice features of this camera, but they say that the quality is more like a top-of-the-range 3MP camera, but loses out to 4 or 5 MP cameras. Askley also says that the reds come out a little bit orangey. Anybody else have this kind of experience? How would you rate the 602Z as compared with the olympus 5050, if you have experience with both, please share! How about compared with a canon D30? I am interested in trying to bring a 602Z underwater, so trying to get a gauge on how suitable it will be for that purpose. I especially want the picture quality to be there. Thanks |

resolution of the 602Z is as good as a 4MP camera if you use the 6MP fine mode.
anyway, the number of pixels determines the print/output size (and nothing much else). 3MP is generally good enough for 8R. And the 4MP equivalent pics are good enough for a bit more. Try printing some full size sample pics from www.dpreview.com on a good printer. S602Z is faster than the C5050 in terms of AF performance. As for using it underwater, I don't think I saw any affordable underwater case for the 602Z. |

The faster AF performance is a big plus, that is one reason I'm checking it out. But I wonder if anyone has some comparison on the picture quality (mainly noise, but other distortions too) and colour of the 602Z vs the 5050. I guess that the 602Z will beat my 3040 in these areas. The colour of the 5050 is very nice underwater, so I wonder how the 602Z compares with it. For the U/W housing, I am thinking of taking it down in an ewa-marine bag/housing. |

S602Z is a better camera in terms of performance and feactures. The replacement is S7000.

My first cam is S602 followed by C5050.
Colour wise I prefer S602. And S602 AF slightly faster than C5050. One thing bad abt about C5050 is the Noise level is higher when compare to S602 and it only has a 3x Zoom lens. I would say S602 is the only prosumer cam with the lowest noise picture even at ISO400!!! than any prosumer range camera. Correct me if I wrong. IMHO, C5050 win s602 over the incam functions and features. I prefer to has a hybrid of C5050 & S602. with the following... S602 6x zoom S602 CCD S602 colour C5050 function C5050 flip LCD C5050 TTL ext Flash C5050 body C5050 size ![]() |

S602 is generally a good cam. The colors produced are more saturated and vibrant (trademark for fuji cams) compared to oly 5050, whose colors are a little "duller" in comparision. However, Oly tends to produce color tones closer to the real life object.
Pic quality wise, the fuji is reasonably good. The most respectable feature is its ability to take quite clean shots at ISO 400 (best i've seen in any prosumer dc). But of coz, the pic quality does appears inferior compared to a D30's. Details are better resolved by the sensor of a DSLR. |

Used a 602z for more than a year. Great cam with very sharp quality and vibrant colours with resolution on par with a G3. You can check out my gallery for some samples. It is not without its weaknesses though, most shots suffer from a greenish/yellowish cast and the LCD is often misleading.
Using a D30 now, slightly more details and lesser noise, but the 602 is not that far behind. Besides, the 602's video is by far the best in any digicam. ![]()

What are the features or functions in the 5050 that are lacking the 602Z? (refering to line 4 in your list above). Thanks! |

Dpreview is generally biased towards Canon. Look at the canon ads and canon supporters and u know why almost all Canon DC are highly recommended. I went Cnet.com where those 602z owners are the one telling the truth... ![]()
