Basically my post got 4 asterisk and it was termed vulgarities. So we should have a proper rules stating what amount of asterisk is a vulgarities.
* - Not a vulgarities ** - Shorthand vulgarities *** - Not a vulgarities **** - vulgarities ***** - not a vulgarities ****** - pass tense vulgarities And for my post, I do not know why the proper word for crap is consider a vulgarity. I will be quite ashame to use to toilet for my stomach problem now, since I am indirectly producing vulgar material. From Darren. Reason: ------- Guideline Reminder Do not use vulgarities (even though they are censored) and ensure critiques are constructive. ------- and how does this critiques(Darren quote me this one) is unconstructive?

Please brace yourself for war.
I'm sure Darren wasn't referring to that one specific post. |

you give scores for photographs. i think you have been spending too much time on flickr and have been smoking the wrong wine.
constructive feedback is how eikin writes it. it is put in a cordial way, blunt but not abrasive. when i look at what you write in critique corner abrasive is the word that comes to mind immediately. sure, like i've said, you make good points sometimes. you throw in scores, you throw in acid tones.. you waste it all. no one is going to see past that, people will take offense and you basically waste your time. they say that how you approach others' photos is a representation of how you approach your photos. if you have no respect for anyone's effort (or even a lack thereof), how can you respect yours, and evaluate your own critically, objectively? a bad photo is bad, yes, but still, a basic level of mutual respect has to be present. grow up. life's not always how you want it to be. here's a simple suggestion to improve your critique (see edited version below). edited critique: "Are you shooting the sky, the sea, or the boat? Basically, your composition requires people to have a second thoughts on what you are actually shooting at. First thing anyone see will be the sky. If you want people to focus on the boat instead, you will need to lower your angle so that the shadow is being casted directly to you from the sky. Too much highlights for a low key photo. Reduce the amount of sky will improve this image." Now that wasn't so hard, was it? ![]() |

ot
you mean photo.net allows vulgarities? most other photo forums (international ones) i have been to tend to go easier actually. state critique in a matter-of-fact way. i don't think he'll be very popular in photo.net either. but oh well, that's the way it is. |

giving off suggestions and critiques in Critique Corner is welcomed.
but pls do not pass off urself as god's gift to photography and start to grade every member's work. what we want are only critiques and suggestions on how best to further improve the foto. let us all make Critique Corner a better place for members who are keen to further improve their photography.

why need guidelines for vulgarities in the first place?
its not part of giving impartial critiques. those with unhealthy egos, or those who should get down their high horse, instead of 'throwing their weight around'. by having a guideline, it will oni goes to show vulgarities are tolerated. |

besides, it exhibits a lofty attitude, like you have the qualifications to grade work like a teacher. we are teachers and students of each other. |
