Default Nikon lenses to Olympus adapter

i'm looking for one adapter that fits my nikon lenses to olympus body. anyone got experience to share? i'm fine with manual focus.

infinity focus is a must for this adapter. quality image is a plus. can autofocus is a super plus(i doubt there is).

anyone can recommend me? thanks in advance.

I'm using the one bought at OP,it's big, thick and heavy, very very solid, but i'm using it with my zuiko lenses, nothing different from using the lens on the body directly actually

I am using one with Nikon 24mm manual prime to E300. Yes you can get it from OP or through Tago - not expensive. You have to focus manually though. Do not rely on the 'infinitity' marking on the lens. Using a 'affirmation' chip is not helpful in my experience. The photos are very acceptable, bringing out the best in the old and the new.

Happy adventuring!

I think the adaptor should be around $50-$60/ range. The adaptor works better with shorter focal length lenses. Try this www.wrotniak.net/photo for more information.

Got mine from tagotech abt $39 + shipping, delivered to my door. Didnt hv to leave home to get it.
see it here

Focuses at infinity, glassless. Good build quality.
I've used the adapter with good results on various nikkor lenses + E-520, easy to focus via optical vf or using liveview 7x/10x mag.

My personal experience with the so-called 'affirmation chip' on oly body was disappointing. First of all, the mounting of the chip is a very difficult operation. Even if you mount it correctly, frequent use would dislodge it from the adaptor. The affirmation 'green spot' comes on when in focus but that is about the same as using your eye focus. Besides, the affirmation is 'slow' to come on. It is practically useless for moving target. For still, your eye is still the precision tool to use. My 2 cents worth.

from what you mentioned, to me, this "affirmation chip" is totally useless, use on moving object is kinda impossible, still we can use live view with 7, 10x zoom to get accurate focusing.

Thanks for sharing your expreience

looks like i'll forgo af confirmation chip then. do you guys uses magnifier(1.4X, 2X etc) on the optical vf? gee now am itching for split screen.

btw with the nikon lens adapter to oly, would the aperture open wide when viewing/focusing? or the aperture stops down to the aperture setting where my vf gets very dark? able to do aperture priority and manual on cam right?

I use KPS magnifier, 1.3x if I am not wrong, work well on me. (however, this is very personal)

if you are using manual lens which aperture is adjusted from the lens, then you will see the light loss(from VF) if you stop down, this is what happen on Old Zuiko lens and I believe other is the same.

you still able to get auto shutter speed if you use Aperture or manual mode.

The word af comfirmation chip is misleading. You are using a manual lens to begin with...there is no auto-focus capability. If the purpose of the chip is to 'affirm' the object is in focus, then the use of a 'split-image' focusing screen is more helpful. I have used one before. It helps but it may reduce visibility (brightness of screen image) in some situations. As for the use of a magnifier, I understand you need it for macro mode operation, like macrophotography. Also, I understand the 'affirmation chip' can 'fool' the build-in program of the oly body in activating the IS function. Your need of the IS function is a personal choice. I am not sure this function works for all manual lenses of different focal lengths.

You can use aperture-priority, shutter-priority or manual mode with the adaptor. I think you need to stop down (open up the aperture) the lens first for better visibility.

I don't use any magnifier, use of manual lens on my E-1 and E-510 poses no problem to me,some guy in the past did say that it's still possible to do macro or something like that,he took a silver fish and it was hell sharp, can't remember who are you though, but of course, having something like that does help a lot with focus, but well,as with glasses, some need them, some don't,some wear contacts,so does magnifier, some need, some just don't,my 2 cents neways

agreed with egnaro but I'm not sure, easiest way it to see if your lens has the DOF preview button,my 2 lens has it on them, when i stop down my apeture and press that,i can see the blades moving,if you have that, than most probably you can stop down when you use adaptor

unless you're using in super bright daylight, like mid day sun in summer,or some other time here in little sg,only can use aperture piority and manual mode if you want metering,if you use shutter piority, there's no metering and if you never use a light meter, chances are your exposure will go haywire, unless you've been shooting for a really long time and you can roughly gauge the exposure
