    Default 1st attempt on HDR

    Hi all,

went out taking photos at the marina barrage this afternoon.. Cloudy and a bit rainy. Manage to get a few shots.

Heard about photomatix and HDR photo from the forum and decided to give it a try.. But seems to be not very successful.. Any advises?

    yeah. can see now
there's seems to be a heavy orange cast and haloing around the bushes.
sky is dramatic in this case (which i like, but some may not)

i thot the haloing will be cause by the merging of the 3 photos that is used to make the HDR photo... So.. what causes the haloing???

haloing is caused by the settings you've used in photomatix.
with the Details Enhancer method, the setting Highlights Smoothing (under the S/H tab) is useful for reducing halos around objects placed against bright backgrounds. The other adjustments that may help are lowering the Strength or increasing the value of the Light Smoothing setting.
