I like 2, but it'd be better, if you make it darker, it'll add a little gloomy feel to the picture.

Yeah. Should put some effort into the titles. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have not been doing street photography for a long time and definitely not an expert in this area. But what I can comment is based on what I have learned looking at others' street photography.

Normally, they try to convey through their photos the characteristics of the people living in the neighborhood, the interaction of the subjects with the photographers, or the things the subjects are doing at the point of capture which is an interesting topic the photo is trying to capture etc.

A title will help the viewers to focus on the subject in the picture as well as trying to give meaning to the photo.

My humble 2 cents.

feel that there is a lack of context in your photos... as well as movement.

think you did well to get such tight crops of the people, though, did you use a zoom lens?

other than that... yep, i find there is little context re:

also find them a little flat.. maybe try smaller DOF and maybe shoot according to a theme? right now they look pretty randomly put together.

i do like your colours in 3&4, though.

Done adding titles to the photos. Is it better now? Or i've made it worse?

Yeah. Using my 18-135mm lens. Smaller DOF means bigger aperture right? (Pardon me. Still quite new in photography.) My 18-135 lens can't go any bigger than 3.5.

I have not tried going out to shoot according to a theme. I always just go out to walk and shoot stuff that i find interesting or appeal to me.

Maybe i should try shooting with a theme in mind.

hi mentol (again!)

f3.5 is good enough for DOF shots... only need really big apertures if want to blur our the bg completely... i've taken some nice blurry shots at 4-5.6 on a simple slr... to enhance the blur effect u need to move closer... tighter crop. let me know if u want to see any pics at 4-5.6 on this thread! i will have to dig a bit as it is film scans.

and also to help ur pics look less 'flat' you can try restricting yourself to using focal lengths of not more than 80mm...

cheers!

Thanks for your explaination. I'm already very thankful that you take the effort to explain stuff to me. Next time i will try to move closer to my subject when i want to do bokeh isolation.

I have not really tried restricting the focal length to 80mm or less. I will try that when i want to get a blurry background.
