It is indeed a tempting offer, but the exchange rate weakened it significantly now. Considering how much you have to pay to get this lens - at least a high 700sgd here in SG. If you see the need for your style of shooting, then yup, go for it.

I got mine because, I thought it was a steal back then (slightly in Sept, bought from digitalfotoclub at about 370ish usd) - since I believe in terms of equivalent focal length vs max aperture value, it outshines the 12-60, but in terms of wide-angle, the 12-60 proves to be significantly at an advantage. I also thought about that having a 12-60 will blow my wallet and also myself, cos I really am a lazy person and would very much want to minimize PP - since so many pple commented on how sharp the lens were.

But from your collection of lenses, I think you might underutilise it - since most pple would prefer to use the 12-60 most of the time. Despite, many pple will tell you how much different this lens can be compared to the 12-60 - there's no absolute yes and it is only down to us, as users to bring out what we want from the equipment we have. "Limitations are only excuses for upgrades", that is what I always tell myself.

Thinking about your Christmas present already? :P

The other good buy which I personally feel makes a LOT of $en$e is: FL-50R

This is of moderate sense (just for sharing): EX-25

Poison for you?

reason of eyeing on 14-54 is for my GF not actually for me...

at the price of FL50R i might as well go for metz.

BTW the price of EX25 is not tempting or poisonous at all... at least for me. those who know me well enough know the reason.

hey u did spread the virus to me yet... lol

I hope I understood you correctly, but anyhow, good for you!

The links were merely recommendations for those who browse this thread, whether they like it or not, it is really up to individual, like per your situation. I'm just offering them a penny of thoughts for the price wise.

Cheers

I also thinking of buying frm B&H, the 14-54mm mkI. After adding courier is S$660. Just worry abt handling only. Do u think mkI will drop even further after mkII officially available?

I have not seen much price change on the Mk I since July till now, but I can't be sure that it will drop further either, since it's really a bang for bucks! On the other hand, I think that they are starting to phase out (stop producing) the Mk I from the market now, just like the 40-150mm MkI...

Another candidate worth a look at 70-300mm (especially if the USD continues to weaken somemore)...

Hope you will have fun with your new glass
Cheers~

If I am not mistaken, yr GF uses the E420 .... GET THE MKII!

With Contrast Detection AF, LV is actually decent on the E-X20 .... for GF sake .... and if she reads this forum she'll know you skimped about $200 just to get her the Mk 1 ....

ya... she is using E420. haha... let wait for my frz to return on Jan'09.

BTW, OT a bit, I personally feel that DR on E420 is way much better then E510 and I think most ppl know abt it. (I am using E420 now in KL)

Same thoughts I had on the E520 versus the E510 .... one of the contributing factors could be use of SAT, which is absent in the E510.

Or maybe a different sensor altogether ...

No. DR of E520 is definitely better than the E510. Don't think people really touch the SAT setting either. I don't.
