My CF card or my camera ???

Hi guys, i am a A300 user and i am suffering this problem.
I am using a CF 4gb card to take RAW pictures... Last time with my camera full battery and blank card i could take 418 pics.... but for 2 days i dun know why my camera informs me that i could only take 250 RAW files with it.....
Why 418 turn into 250 ??? my camera or my card ???? i changed a new card and the camera still inform 250.... is think it is becoz of my camera ???? it's RAW files.... the rest are normal ??

Did you accidentally switch from cRAW to RAW, or RAW+JPEG?

Maybe you were on cRAW and now switched to RAW?

250 Raw files for A300 for 4GB card.

I'm thinking you switched from RAW to RAW+JPEG

Oh, and the comment from Boombox is sony's rough estimate.

Your camera should be fine, anyway... Go ahead and use it. Join us on an outing and we can check what setting you tweaked.

Try to format it.
The last time it happened to me too.
It says 5 raw picture even after i've del all files in the MS.

tried already..... still 250....although manual guide says can only take 250 ( like the camera informs ) so how come last time i can take even 418 (

Are you very sure that you were not shooting JPEG when you managed to squeeze in 418 shots in the card? Cos a friend of mine ever made the same mistake too.

simply do some maths. How much approx. meg is one RAW from the camera?

Then divide into 4GB.

maybe you changed quality setting / Raw + Jpeg as the others said.

Did you actually shoot 418 or did it just say you could?

Any way, do the maths, see if 418 can fit on 4gb

And look at the size of your previous pics (where you said you shot 418) see if they are different somehow.

Hi,

U may check the file-size. the remaining no of photos can take will change as you keep shooting. it is not a problem i think. if you change to raw+jpeg, it is around 14m for one shoot, estimate is around 280 photos. if you shoot only in raw, which is around 10m, able to take around 400 pics.

yes.... i set it RAW ( not RAW + JPEG ) but its still 250.. 1 pic size is aroung 14mb... i dun know why... last time it was 10mb for 1 pic and i TOOK 418 pics......

Fyi, a blank 4gig cf on my a200 reports 251 shots in raw (just checked).

I am positive with a 4GB CF card you can only shoot 250 RAW files.

Its stated in the manual quite clearly.

I tried in on my alpha too.

Now all the bro's here have given good advice. Some have even referred you to the exact page on the manual.

If you still insist that a 4GB CF card can shoot 418 pictures in RAW, then i suggest you bring it down to the service center for them to take a look.
