Default Help. E410 converging problem

[IMG][/IMG]

Hi pls help. I got a problem with my e410. Pls look at the pic.

Pic taken at 14mm f/8. The buildings at both side are slanding inwards. I know its normally to see this effect in taking buildings but after discussing with my frens. We come to a conculsion that the converging is too much. Camera is not tilt when taking this pic.

Pls advise....... sending for warrenty but service centre claims that is the normal behavior of the camera.

hi Xquan, there is nothing wrong with your camera so don't worry. i am assuming that you are using the ZD14-42/f3.5-5.6.

the effect you see is common in wide angle shots known as lens distortion. distortion is more apparent in building photos as the distortion of the vertical lines are more noticeable.

as your camera does not seem to be parallel to the white building in the foreground, perspective differences is also present.

you can try shooting at 15mm for such shots to lessen the distortion effect.

i suggest you check out the lens review of your lens on dpreview to have good idea how your lens performs and how some performance limitations should be taken into consideration when using that lens. the link is here: http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/..._o20/page3.asp

for an idea how your lens performs against a similar lens from another manufacturer, you can see here: http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/...ration.xml%3F3

i've also taken the liberty to layer your photo over the distortion test chart from dpreview so you can see the effect of distortion with the test result of the 14-42.

i agree with headfonz,if you can try it with something like 9-18mm or 7-14,you can see the effects, even more so with fish eye but tt's just too much but it's nice in an artistic way
